A paediatrician is someone who has specialised in babies, infants, and young adults, in essence, we practice ‘children’s medicine’.
A paediatrician has completed six years general medical training, two years of internship and one year of community service, then gone on to specialise for another four years at a Children’s Hospital.
At KidCare we look after both minor concerns like colds, flu’s and general ailments as well as more complex paediatric cases.
If your child has an acute illness, we are more than happy to look after their needs as an outpatient and we are skilled at routine baby screens and checks.
However, we also deal with chronic illnesses like asthma, epilepsy, ADHD, growth issues and neurodevelopmental concerns.
Children who are sick and require admission either via emergency or through the rooms are cared for in hospital and we guide their parents through this process.
We are present at any complicated delivery, where the baby may need our assistance. This includes delivery of premature babies which may need Neonatal Intensive Care through to an unexpected arrival in the middle of the night.
Dr Mandy-Lyn Meyer has contracted into most medical aids therefore they should cover your visit without co-payment, although there are a few which may require an authorisation number from your GP (General Practitioner) prior to your elective visit.
Emergency care and admissions will always be covered by the medical aid.
